Academic Profile

Professor Burkholder is trained as a pre-modernist, though his research and teaching interests range widely. He serves on several editorial and national advisory boards, and he is the recipient of numerous institutional and national-level awards. These include FDU’s Distinguished Faculty Awards for both teaching and research, as well as the American Historical Association’s Gilbert Award for the best study on teaching the past. He is also co-director of a major study of public views of the past, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
