Academic Profile
Dr. Kim has a Ph.D. from Florida State University in Sport Management. He earned a master’s degree at Texas A&M University with a focus on Sport Management. In 2012, Dr. Kim came to Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) after serving as the sport management program coordinator of the University of Tennessee at Martin for 4 years.
At FDU, Dr. Kim has taught at the undergraduate and master levels of sport administration. His teaching interests include introduction to sport administration, facility management, sport research and policy analysis, international sport administration, diversity in sport, and legal issues in the sport industry.
Dr. Kim likes traveling (He has traveled to about 15 different countries). In fact, he has been teaching sport administration international travel study courses since 2018. He is a member of the FDU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and has a membership in the Faculty Senate. He serves as a member of the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Sport Safety and Security since 2016.
Dr. Kim has focused his research interests in the areas of sport fan experience, sport tourism, and diversity issues in sport. Dr. Kim has published research articles in journals such as International Journal of Sport Psychology, Journal of Multidisciplinary Research, International Journal of Sport Management, Korean Journal of Sport and Laws, and Social Behavior and Personality: An International Journal, and South African Journal for Research in Sport, PE, and Recreation.
