Academic Profile

Dr. Hyungjoo (Jay) Choi is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Technology at the Gildart Haase School of Computer Sciences and Engineering, Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey. Prior to joining FDU, he worked as a Senior Structural Engineer at Sargent and Lundy and worked in the Structural (Building) engineering industry in New York and New Jersey.  He also served as an adjunct faculty member at Rutgers University and the University of New Haven.

Dr. Choi’s background and research activities are in the areas of structural engineering, sustainability, and long-term structural performance evaluation. He received his Ph.D. in Civil engineering from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey in 2018. His doctoral work focused on addressing the fatigue resistance of fillet-welded connections for sign structures. He is also a registered professional engineer in New York and New Jersey.
