Academic Profile
My passion is to bring the ever-evolving science to people of various levels of scientific inclination. In the current global pandemic, the importance of Biology education and understanding has become even more apparent. I believe that as an educator, my responsibility is to impart not only the concepts of science but also its applicability and relevance.
In courses like Human Anatomy and Physiology, a true understanding of the subject matter will only come about when students make the connection to everyday bodily function and the structural backup that enables it. In courses like Advanced Molecular Biology, it is important to break the abstractness of studying molecules that are not seen by our naked eye by enabling students to visualize the molecular interactions and synthesis. Non-major courses like Human Biology are extremely important since they expose students to concepts and mechanisms that will bring more awareness to their own self on matters that affect their personal health and well-being.
Today is a world of social media and constant news cycles. It has never been more important to hone the ability of critical thinking and scientific expression. In all my courses, I persevere to enable my students to weed out the noise and find scientific facts from the vast informational world we currently live in.
