Mutiara Mohamad Honored by The Society of Foreign Consuls
March 20, 2025 – Mutiara Mohamad, University Director of the Programs in English for Academic and Professional Success (PEAPS), was recently honored by The Society of Foreign Consuls in New York (SoFC) at its annual International Women’s Day Celebration. The event took place at the Consulate General of India in New York on March 19, 2025, recognizing 14 exceptional women from SoFC member consulates for their outstanding contributions across various fields, including business, government, academia, and community service.
The honorees represented Barbados, Bulgaria, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Serbia, Thailand and Türkiye. Each awardee received a certificate of recognition and a bouquet, with their achievements showcased on-screen during the ceremony.
Dr. Mohamad, representing Malaysia, was honored for her key role in leading the English for Professional Success Program since 2006. In 2022, she expanded her efforts to support ESL students at FDU’s Hispanic Center. Her passion for education, shaped by her experiences in Malaysia and as an exchange student in Missouri, drives her commitment to cross-cultural competency.
