EOF Hosts Annual Alumni Panel
March 25, 2024 – Last week, Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program invited some of its alumni back to campus to participate in the annual alumni panel.
The panelists included: Jose Franco, BSCivET’11 (Metro), senior project manager at ARMA Development Consultants; Sasha Palin, BA’11, MA’11 (Metro), events and marketing specialist at George P. Johnson Experience Marketing; Federico Alzate-Gomez, BSMET’15, MAS’23 (Metro), cyber effects operations officer at the U.S. Air Force Reserve; Nidia Rodriguez, BS’16 (Metro), talent acquisition manager at Reckitt; and Tremayne McKenith, BA’17, MA’17 (Metro), intelligence analysis at the National Basketball Association.
The alumni panelists reflected on their experiences as EOF students, talked about their transition from college to professional life and shared their career paths, including any internships, jobs, or further education they pursued after graduation. They also offered recommendations and advice to current EOF students based on their own experiences. This included tips for navigating college, pursuing internships or research opportunities, networking and overcoming obstacles.
Through a Q&A session, the alumni provided honest and insightful answers, further fostering a sense of connection and support between past and present EOF students.
“Our annual EOF Alumni Panel provides an excellent opportunity for our EOF alumni to come back on campus and share their experiences with our current students. These discussions are a wonderful way to inspire and empower our current students by providing them with relatable role models and valuable advice,” said EOF executive director, Lissette Garcia. “It also allows us to celebrate the achievements of our former EOF scholars.”
