Early College FAQs

With FDU Early College Dual Enrollment, high school students “double dip” as they work toward earning both their high school diploma and credits that count toward college, offering savings in both time and money.

The Early College Dual Enrollment program at FDU (formerly known as our “Middle College” program) allows high school students to take credit-bearing FDU courses right at their high school. Classes are taught by home-district high school teachers who have met certain criteria. Students participating in the dual enrollment program receive credit toward their high school diploma and credit on an FDU transcript upon successful completion of a course. Earned college credit(s) may be applied toward a degree program upon enrollment at FDU, or at another college/university. (Students should consult with their intended college/university to confirm credit  transferability). FDU Early College Dual Enrollment students may complete as few as 3 credits or as many as 12, 15, or more credits while they are in high school.

Start College in High School, Graduate from College Sooner

By participating in the FDU Early College Dual Enrollment for high school students, successful students have been able to reduce their undergraduate college enrollment time by a full semester–and even up to a full year, allowing them to enroll at FDU as second-year (sophomore) students. That means a full year of tuition savings, too.

Thinking of Attending FDU After High School?

As you’re making your college plans, you should know that Early College Dual Enrollment Students are waived from the FDU application fee and are eligible for early (conditional) admission and a renewable scholarship.
