A biology lab cabinet full of various specimens including sponges, shells and insects.Cabinet of Wonders

This biology lab cabinet at the Florham Campus is a treasure trove of specimens: sponges, sea fans, leeches, earthworms, coral, sea anemones, jellyfish, centipedes, sea urchins, starfish, sea cucumbers, clamshells, oyster shells, a nautilus, an octopus, horseshoe crabs, insects, crayfish and ticks. Students taking Biological Diversity Lab or Animal Diversity Lab examine various specimens each week and can draw, sketch or hold the items.

The Old College Try

“My advice to the Class of 2024, as an adjunct professor and a graduate of FDU, is never let someone tell you that you can’t do something. You’ll never know what you can do unless you try.”

“I took this photo on a return trip to Wroxton College; I’d spent a semester abroad there in Fall 2019 and just had to go back. It was the last day of my trip, one of the first ‘real’ spring days, and the forget-me-nots were bursting with life. It felt like a great ‘farewell present’ from the Abbey — don’t forget all the special memories and connections made here.”

The Winter/Spring 2024 cover of FDU Magazine shows a man in a parka on a tundra, using a sextant.Praise For Panicucci

I read with great interest your article honoring the late Professor (Richard) Panicucci [professor emeritus of quantitative analysis and retired assistant provost for campus life] in the Winter/Spring 2024 issue. He was my faculty adviser and he assisted me in making one of the most important decisions of my life. I was an accounting major, but I was thinking about switching to marketing. I will never forget what he said to me: “Steve, if you become an accountant, you can always go into marketing; but if you major in marketing, you will never be able to be an accountant.” I finished my BS in accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). While most of my career I have been involved with real estate investing, I use my accounting knowledge every day. Thank you, Professor Panicucci.

Breakfast of Champions

An end-of-semester tradition serves up breakfast after hours — at Late Night Breakfast, students can take a study break and fill up on food and fun.

Late Night Breakfasts are held at both the Metropolitan and Florham campuses each semester as finals approach. Faculty and staff volunteer to cook and serve the food and students bring the energy.
