  • CJUS_1101 Introduction to Crim Justice (3 Credits)

    This course provides a comprehensive overview and understanding of the United States criminal justice system. In the context of the philosophical underpinnings of the U.S. Constitution and the historical, social, and political development of the U.S., this course examines the three major components of the criminal justice system: (1) law enforcement, (2) courts, and (3) corrections. The framework of the course centers around the concepts of social order and control, theories of criminality, the legislation, enforcement, and adjudication of criminal laws, and responses to criminal behavior.
