Tutoring Guidelines
Our Tutors:
- Are sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, staff and faculty
- Have a minimum B+ (3.33) Grade Point Ratio in the subject(s) for which they provide tutoring, as well as a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
- Are recommended by faculty members
- Provide free, individualized tutoring sessions to help reinforce classroom instruction
- Assist students who are referred by faculty members
- Are patient and non-judgmental
- Demonstrate and strengthen positive study habits
- Teach proofreading strategies and techniques
- Support and enhance academic achievement and promote independent learning
Our Tutors:
- DO NOT do homework and class assignments for or with students
- DO NOT work on students’ take-home exams or quizzes
- DO NOT attend classes for students or take class notes for use in tutoring sessions
- DO NOT borrow students’ textbooks to prepare for tutoring sessions
- DO NOT write or rewrite papers for students
- DO NOT provide proofreading services
- DO NOT work with papers whose author (the student) is not present at the tutoring session
- DO NOT study or conduct research for students before or after the scheduled tutoring session
- DO NOT prepare students for any standardized test (SAT, CLEP, GRE, GMAT, PRAXIS, etc.)
- DO NOT tutor students in courses for which they are not officially registered
*Exceptions to the above must be approved by the Director
