Division of Student Affairs Grant/Award Applications

Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior Undergraduates

Campus Service Grant ($1,000)

The Campus Service Grant is awarded to students who have demonstrated continued outstanding involvement in extracurricular activities and service in one or more of the following areas:

  • Leadership in FDU student organizations and other activities on campus.
  • Leadership in policymaking on campus or University-wide committees.
  • Exemplary service to the campus community.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Undergraduate Students

  • Earned a minimum of 32 credits by the end of Spring 2023
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better
  • Participation in one or more of the above defined activities

Graduate Students

  • Earned a minimum 15 credits by the end of Spring 2023
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better
  • Participation in one or more of the above defined activities

All Applicants

  • Resume
  • One Page Essay: a brief personal statement outlining how you believe your campus involvement is preparing you as a world citizen.

Division of Student Affairs Scholarship Grant ($1,500)

The Division of Student Affairs Award is presented to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to leadership and community service on campus while maintaining a good academic standing.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Record of on-campus leadership
  • Exhibits service to the community and others
  • Good academic and social standing at FDU
  • Not Graduating in May
  • Resume

Vice President of Student Affairs Award ($2,000)

The Vice President Award is presented to a student who has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to leadership and community service while maintaining a strong academic record.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher
  • Earned a minimum of 15 credits by the end of the upcoming Spring semester (not graduating in May)
  • Record of ongoing on-campus leadership
  • Exemplary service to the community and others
  • Strong academic and social standing at FDU
  • Resume

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholarship (75% of tuition)

In the spirit of honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the MLK Scholarship will recognize students who:

  • Demonstrate exemplary leadership qualities at FDU and in the community.
  • Reflect the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in their personal lives.
  • Commit to serving others.
  • Promote human diversity.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • A 3-page typewritten and double-spaced essay: How I am inspired by MLK’s legacy and the impact it has on my everyday life.
  • Interview: three finalists will have a personal interview with the selection committee. Submission of an application does not guarantee an interview.
  • Full-Time Undergraduate Student (Students with more than 96 credits are ineligible)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Resume

Graduating Senior

Student Pinnacle Award

The Student Pinnacle Award is bestowed upon an outstanding undergraduate student member of the graduating class. The recipient will deliver the commencement address on behalf of the Metropolitan Campus during the annual Commencement Ceremonies.

NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduating senior status
  • Completed Student Pinnacle Award nomination form
  • GPA requirement = 3.0 minimum
  • Letter of recommendation from nominating FDU faculty or staff member
  • One page reflection essay: What FDU means to me and how it has shaped my success?
  • Resume and/or evidence of significant success or distinction in one’s academic field of study
  • Interview: three finalists will have a personal interview with the selection committee. Submission of an application does not guarantee an interview.
