Transfer Credit Estimator

We want to give you credit for the work you completed at your previous institution! Our new Transfer Credit Estimator (TCE) will review credits you’ve already earned at your previous institution and provide an estimate of how many will transfer into your desired degree program at FDU.

Getting Started with the Transfer Credit Estimator

Important: Before using the Transfer Credit Estimator (TCE), be sure to have a copy of your unofficial transcripts on hand — you will be asked to input information from your transcript(s) into the TCE.

First time users: You will first be asked to create a TCE profile that will make it possible to save and later revisit the information you provide. Be sure to save the username and password you create so you can easily access the TCE again if you should need to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Is there a different application I need to use if I am applying to FDU as a Transfer student?

A1: YES, there is an application designed especially for Transfer students. You can complete either the Common App for Transfer or the FDU Transfer Application. Please keep in mind that you will also need to provide official transcripts as part of the Transfer application process. They should be mailed to:

Fairleigh Dickinson University
Admissions Operations, H-DH3-10
1000 River Rd. Teaneck, NJ 07666

Q2: How many credits are needed to be considered a Transfer student?

A2: Transfer students will have completed 24 or more college-credit hours at an accredited post-secondary institution. Applicants with less than 24 credits must apply as a First-Year student and need to submit their high school transcript.

Q3: What is the maximum number of credits that FDU will accept in transfer?

A3: Students with an Associate in Arts (AA) or an Associate in Science (AS) Degree can transfer in a maximum of 64 credits. Students from other four-year institutions can transfer in up to 90 credits.

Q4: What documentation is needed to have my credits from another College or University accepted by FDU?

A4: Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be submitted. Students are responsible for making certain their transcripts are submitted in a timely manner so that they can be evaluated for full credit. Official transcripts should be sent to:

Fairleigh Dickinson University
Admissions Operations, H-DH3-10
1000 River Rd.
Teaneck, NJ 07666

Q5: Are certain grades required for my transfer credits to be accepted by FDU?

A5: Yes, course work with earned grades of A through C will be considered for transfer credit.

Q6: Will I still have General Education courses to complete if I have earned an AA or AS degree at a Community College prior to transferring to FDU?

A6: No, any transfer student who has earned an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree at a New York or New Jersey community college, and is applying for a Bachelor of Arts program, will have their General Education requirements fulfilled using the coursework completed at the Community College. Please note that there are exceptions for courses which might serve as prerequisites for a given Major or Minor.

Q7: What happens if I wish to transfer to FDU but did not yet complete an associate’s degree at a Community College?

A7: Students arriving from any community college or four-year institution in New Jersey or New York without an AA/AS degree will have their incoming credits reviewed and applied to an FDU degree program on a course-by-course basis.

Q8: What is the FDU Transfer Credit Estimator (TCE)?

A8: The transfer credit estimator is an online tool that will make it possible for you to insert the courses that you completed at your prior institution and learn how those classes and credits will apply to the degree program of your choice here at FDU. After you’ve inserted the prior classes you’ve completed and selected the FDU degree program of interest, you will receive an evaluation that will allow you to see which of the classes you’ve completed can apply to FDU General Education requirements, which can count toward your Major of interest, and which will be counted for Free Elective credit (free electives are also important as they’re often need to reach the 120 credits required for graduation!).

Q9: Is the FDU Transfer Credit Estimator (TCE) right for me?

A9: If you have completed 24 or more credits at a NJ Community College then YES, the Transfer Credit Estimator can help you to see how those credits will be applied to a degree at FDU.

Q10: How do I access the Transfer Credit Estimator (TCE)?

A10:
