United Nations World Tourism Organizations
In October 2015, Fairleigh Dickinson University’s International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management received an affiliate membership in the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This is a distinction that only 70 colleges and universities share globally. Fairleigh Dickinson University is the second school to receive this affiliation within the U.S.
As an affiliate member of the UNWTO, the International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management faculty members have access to the UNWTO’s extensive e-library to assist with their research activities in areas such as ecotourism, sustainable development, finance and investment, risk and crisis management, market research, tourism statistics, and poverty alleviation. The UNWTO’s Knowledge Network also provides faculty members with a forum for an exchange of ideas in the areas of tourism and its diverse industries. This readily available up-to-date information allows ISHTM faculty and students to access the latest industry news for all tourism industry sectors, for example, hotels, transportation, restaurants, etc.
